Tirupati: An All India National Cadet Corps (NCC ) trekking expedition aimed at promoting adventure, teamwork and national integration is underway at NCC Nagar, Tirupati, with over 500 cadets taking part.
The Senior Division/Junior Division (SD/JD) trekking expedition, AP TREK-I, is being conducted from September 12 to 19 by 5 (Andhra) Girls Battalion, NCC, on behalf of NCC Group Headquarters, Tirupati.
A total of 510 cadets and 15 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) from five participating Directorates are attending the expedition. They include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman-Nicobar, Karnataka and Goa, and Kerala and Lakshadweep.
The cadets have been divided into four mixed batches, with representation from all five Directorates. The arrangement is aimed at promoting inter-state bonding, camaraderie and the spirit of unity in diversity.
As part of the camp, the batches undertake treks to Tirumala, Regional Science Centre, Nagarvanam and the Zoological Park on different days.
The expedition is being conducted under the overall stewardship of Col NK Sharma, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Tirupati, who is also serving as the Trek Manager.
The camp focuses on developing trekking, mountain craft, survival, teamwork and leadership skills among the cadets, while encouraging adventure and national integration among participants from different states and Union Territories.
