hyderabad: Demolition of another alleged unauthorised building in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, is set to begin on Sunday, August 23, with heavy machinery deployed at the site.
Officials have brought a heavy-duty excavator, popularly referred to as a ‘Bahubali’ machine, to the locality to bring down the six-storey structure. Demolition work is expected to commence shortly, amid heightened scrutiny of constructions in the area.
The move comes a day after an unauthorised seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar, killing two migrant workers and injuring others. The structure, reportedly built without the required municipal permission and in violation of prescribed setbacks, also damaged an adjoining building.
Following the collapse, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected the site and announced that officials would identify other unauthorised structures in the locality and initiate enforcement action, including demolition wherever violations were established. He had also warned that illegal constructions in the neighbourhood would not be spared.
The authorities have now intensified inspections in Anjaiah Nagar, particularly of buildings suspected to have been constructed without approvals or in violation of building regulations. The latest demolition is being viewed as part of the enforcement drive launched following the fatal building collapse.
Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has suspended a town planning building officer in connection with the collapse and ordered a comprehensive inspection of unauthorised constructions across its limits.
