Hanumakonda: CPI National Control Commission Chairman Dr K. Narayana on Thursday said political parties should introspect instead of celebrating the Telangana High Court verdict disqualifying Danam Nagender.
He said the ruling should be viewed as a reminder to all parties to uphold democratic values. Narayana questioned the BJP and BRS for celebrating the verdict despite having encouraged defections on various occasions.
He also said the Congress should introspect as it had given Nagender a B-form and fielded him in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections after he joined the party.
He said the BJP, BRS and Congress had all benefited from defections at different times and should avoid adopting different positions depending on political circumstances. Narayana said the verdict should serve as a lesson for political parties across the country.
He demanded that the anti-defection law be strengthened and implemented strictly without political double standards.
