Cancer survivors honoured for their brave battle
Visakhapatnam: Marking a significant move in regional healthcare, ApolloCancer Centre, Visakhapatnam, celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day by honouring cancer survivors and launching a state-of-the-art PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography — Computed Tomography) scanning service.
The advanced facility was inaugurated by City Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi, who attended the event as chief guest.
Lauding the hospital management, the Police Commissioner appreciated the efforts in bridging cutting-edge technology with empathetic patient care, stating that the resilience of survivors coupled with revolutionary medical science provides immense hope to those fighting the disease.
COO of Apollo Hospitals Krishna Prasad, along with medical director Mohan Maharaj, consultant, Nuclear Medicine Keerthi Chandra, senior medical oncologist Rakesh Reddy Boya and senior radiation oncologist Suman Das, among others, elaborated on how these real-time molecular insights enable clinicians to tailor highly individualised, targeted therapies and precise radiation protocols.
They stressed that this drastically minimises damage to healthy tissues and reduces treatment toxicity. As part of the event, the doctors honoured cancer survivors, who had put up a brave battle.
