Chaudhary Aslam’s wife reacts to Sanjay Dutt’s role in ‘Dhurandhar’, raises concerns
Mumbai : Naureen Aslam, wife of the slain Karachi-based officer, said that Sanjay Dutt portrayed her husband convincingly in parts, noting that his appearance and screen presence closely resembled the real-life figure.
The portrayal of late Pakistani police officer Chaudhary Aslam in the film Dhurandhar has drawn a mixed reaction from his widow, who praised actor Sanjay Dutt for his performance but questioned certain aspects of the narrative.
Naureen Aslam, wife of the slain Karachi-based officer, said that Sanjay Dutt portrayed her husband convincingly in parts, noting that his appearance and screen presence closely resembled the real-life figure. She remarked that at moments, the performance felt strikingly authentic.
However, she expressed reservations over several scenes in the film, particularly those depicting extreme violence. According to her, certain sequences — including those suggesting harm to innocents — did not align with the real character and values of Chaudhary Aslam.
Naureen also stated that the filmmakers could have consulted her, police officials, or journalists to better understand both the positive and negative aspects of her husband’s life before presenting it on screen. She emphasised that a more balanced and accurate depiction would have done justice to his legacy.
The film, which features Sanjay Dutt in the role inspired by the real-life officer, has been under scrutiny since its release, with objections raised over how certain real events and personalities have been portrayed.
