Hyderabad: Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh has called for making physical fitness and sports an integral part of community life, saying a healthy society can be built only when people remain active and fit.
He was the chief guest at the Masters Athletics Meet organised by the All India Masters Athletics Association for participants aged above 35 at the Secunderabad Gymkhana Grounds on Sunday.
He presented medals and prizes to winners in various events and congratulated the participants.
Sri Ganesh said it was inspiring to see athletes, including those aged 95, compete with enthusiasm and fitness, describing them as role models for the younger generation.
He said his goal was to build a “Fit Cantonment” alongside a “Clean Cantonment” and urged youth to take up sports and exercise.
He sought the Association’s cooperation in promoting sports in the Cantonment and assured full support.
Association representatives, including president Marri Lakshman Reddy, welcomed the MLA and presented him with a memento.
