Nizamabad: District Collector Bhavesh Mishra expressed displeasure over the poor sanitation and maintenance of the Government General Hospital.
He visited the hospital and inspected the surroundings and its premises in detail and took note of several lapses in maintenance.
He noticed leakage from drainage pipelines at multiple locations, stagnant wastewater and foul odour in parts of the hospital premises.
Expressing concern over the condition, the Collector particularly pulled up officials over leaking sanitation system.
He warned that poor hygiene could pose health risks to patients as well as doctors, medical staff and other employees working at the hospital.
He directed officials to ensure that no stagnant water remains anywhere inside or outside the hospital premises.
He also instructed them to cover open drains, clean the drainage system and take immediate measures to prevent wastewater from accumulating.
The Collector asked Nizamabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dileep Kumar to conduct a comprehensive assessment and initiate measures to improve sanitation around the hospital.
Hospital authorities were directed to ensure regular removal of garbage and maintain strict day-to-day supervision of sanitation activities.
The Collector also ordered the immediate removal of waste construction material found piled up at several locations on the premises.
