Deleted votes exceeded victory margins on 31 seats in West Bengal

It was timely found by the Supreme Court and granted Mamata Banerjee and others the opportunity to file fresh applications concerning claims that victory margins were smaller than the number of votes deleted during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal.

The Supreme Court allowing Mamata Banerjee to file fresh applications regarding vote deletion claims gives reasons to believe that all is not well in West Bengal mandate. The hustings appeared to have been manipulated by ECI.

Mamta Banerjee alleges victory margins in 31 seats were less than the number of votes deleted during the Special Intensive Revision. The Election Commission argues the remedy is an election petition. The case concerns the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal assembly constituencies.

The Supreme Court on Monday said former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and others can file fresh applications regarding their claim that the victory margins were less than the deletion of votes during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in various assembly constituencies.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi took note of the submissions after senior advocate and TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee alleged that in 31 seats, victory margins were less than the number of votes deleted.

Routinely and casually the Election Commission opposed the submissions, saying that the remedy was an election petition, and the poll panel can be held accountable for issues related to the SIR and the consequential appeals against the addition or deletion of votes.  As to why the ECI has evaded from doing its lawful and statutory duty in conducting free and fair elections .

Like Congress MLA got his name included in the voters list, does not ECI know that so many voters were not in a position to run around the various tribunals while there was no time to safeguard their franchoise and thereby put so many people to jeopardize and injustice.

There is an urgent need in the interest of free and fair democracy and nautala justice to cancel the entire election across the WB in all the constituencies and purify the West Bengal mandate by free AND FAIR AND a fresh election by including the so many lakhs of voters names in the voters list.

In the recently concluded assembly elections in the state, the BJP secured 207 seats in the 294-member assembly, while TMC won 80 seats while the TMC lost by thin margins. It is the first time the state registered a record voter turnout of above 90 per cent in the polls. Hope that the apex court sets the confidence of the commoner in the Court of Law as the alleged SIR has fabricated the electoral rolls in the state.
