Dharmavaram: Showcasing exceptional talent and competitive spirit, Dragon XI emerged as the champions of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Cricket Tournament (Season 3), defeating Penukonda by 65 runs in a thrilling final held at the RDT Grounds in Dharmavaram on Wednesday.
State Minister for Health, Medical, Family Welfare, and Medical Education, and local MLA Satyakumar Yadav attended the grand finale as the chief guest, watching the match alongside a large gathering of spectators.
Batting first, Dragon XI posted a formidable total of 239 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 15 overs. In response, Penukonda fought hard but managed 174 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted overs.
Following the match, Minister Satyakumar Yadav presented the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh to Dragon XI, while Penukonda received the runner-up trophy and Rs. 50,000. Individual excellence awards were presented to M Prashanth as ‘Player of the Match’ and Asif Anwar as ‘Best Bowler.’
Addressing the youth, Minister Yadav remarked that sports cultivate discipline, perseverance, and leadership qualities.
He urged young people to stay away from harmful addictions and focus on sports and education, promising comprehensive governmental encouragement for local athletic talent.
