Rajanna - Sircilla: State SC & ST Commission Chairman Bakki Venkataiah directed officials to take proactive measures for the welfare and socio-economic development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
During a review meeting at the Integrated District Offices Complex on Tuesday, Venkataiah, along with Commission member Rambabu Naik, reviewed SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act cases, welfare schemes and reservation policy.
He instructed officials to ensure benefits reach eligible beneficiaries at the grassroots level and investigations into atrocity cases are completed transparently and swiftly.
He also directed officials to organise Civil Rights Day every month at the mandal level to create awareness about constitutional rights and legal provisions.
Officials said 32 SC/ST atrocity cases were registered in the district this year.
The meeting was attended by Collector Garima Agrawal, SP Mahesh B. Gite and senior officials.
