Kavya presses Centre to clear long-pending leather park proposal
Hanumakonda: Warangal MP Dr.KadiyamKavya has urged the Union Government to expedite approval for the proposed Mega Leather Park at Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district, describing it as a vital industrial initiative with significant employment potential.
Raising the matter in the LokSabha under Rule 377 on Wednesday, she said the Telangana Government had already identified 120 acres of government land and completed the necessary groundwork through the Telangana State Leather Industries Promotion Corporation (TSLIPCO).
However, the proposal has remained pending with the Centre, delaying the project’s implementation.
Dr.Kavya said Telangana possesses abundant raw materials for the leather industry and is supported by institutions such as the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
She appealed to the Union Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Textiles to grant immediate clearance, stating that the Mega Leather Park would boost industrial growth and create substantial employment and self-employment opportunities, particularly for Scheduled Caste youth.
