Nepal flood news highlights: Nepal authorities on Thursday issued a fresh flood warning for the Bhotekoshi River after satellite imagery indicated the formation of a lake at the site of the earlier flooding.
The lake is continuing to rise and could potentially burst, the country’s disaster management authority said, urging residents and rescue personnel to stay away from the riverbanks.
The death toll from the floods that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems rose to 392 on Thursday, while around 1,400 people remain missing.
The number of casualties is expected to increase as rescue operations continue. Meanwhile, around 100 Indian nationals who were previously reported missing have been located, Reuters reported, citing officials.
