Nellore gets multipurpose machine to combat dust and summer heat

Nellore: Ina major push toward adopting advanced, technology-driven infrastructure, the Nellore Municipal Corporation has officially introduced a multi-purpose Mist Machine to improve the city’s environmental health. 

Nellore Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha and Municipal Commissioner YO Nandan inspected the functioning of the new equipment on Friday at the Corporation office premises. 

Initiated under the vision of Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, the machine’s performance was found to be highly satisfactory during its initial trial run. The primary role of this specialized vehicle is to manage urban dust and protect the city’s green cover. 

The machine operates by spraying ultra-fine water droplets over trees and plants situated along road dividers. This process effectively flushes away layers of accumulated vehicular pollution, allowing the plants to breathe and thrive while keeping the city looking fresh. 

Furthermore, the administration highlighted the immediate relief the machine brings to commuters. By releasing a consistent mist into the air, the vehicle significantly suppresses airborne dust particles and lowers the surrounding temperature, offering a cooling effect against the intense summer heat. 

The machine is also equipped with a secondary emergency feature that allows it to spray high-pressure water during sudden fire outbreaks, acting as an immediate support unit for local fire control measures. 

Following the successful inspection, the civic body officially flagged off the vehicle for public service, designating the busy Podalakur Road stretch for its inaugural regular route.
