Bapatla: Many patients continue to wait for suitable organs due to the shortage of donors. District collector Dr Vasudeva Vinod Kumar stressed the need to donate organs to give a new lease of life to the needy.
District collector Dr Vasudeva Vinod Kumar said organ donation is the noblest form of giving, as it enables a person to give life to another person even after death.
Addressing the meeting held at the Collectorate here on Tuesday after releasing the posters of ‘Organs Donation Fortnight’ prepared by Indian Red Cross Society Bapatla Unit, he said that many people are suffering from serious illnesses due to the failure of vital organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys and lungs.
Timely organ transplantation can give them an opportunity to lead a new life. However, many patients continue to wait for suitable organs due to the shortage of donors.
He stressed the need to donate organs to give a new lease of life to the needy. He said organ donation can change not only one person’s life but also the future of several families.
He said after a person’s death, organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys and lungs can be donated and transplanted into those in need.
He said eye donation can also help restore the sight to people who have lost their vision.
