Bengaluru: A personal feud and family dispute allegedly lay behind the explosion at an under-construction building on Jermia Road in Pulakeshinagar on October 20.

Bengaluru East Division police have arrested three men accused of plotting to kill a security guard by sending him a parcel containing an improvised explosive device (IED), Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said.

The arrested persons are Zahidul Hussain Barbhuiya, 27, Sajidul Lashkar, 22, and Burhan Ahmed Barbhuiya, 20, who hail from Deenanathpur in Assam.

Police investigations revealed that Zahidul Hussain and Allaudin, who worked as a security guard at the building, were relatives but had developed intense hostility over land and financial disputes.

Zahidul allegedly also held Allaudin responsible for the breakdown of his sister’s marriage. Police believe these grievances prompted him to plan the attack.

Investigators said Zahidul allegedly enlisted the help of Sajidul and Burhan and used a WhatsApp group to coordinate their activities.

Burhan, who had studied only up to Class 8 and worked as a welder and electrician in the Maski, Raichur district, allegedly used internet resources and artificial intelligence-based chatbots to learn techniques related to bomb-making.

The police said Burhan assembled the explosive parcel and transported it from Raichur to Bengaluru by bus.

After arriving in the city, he allegedly stayed at a place arranged by Sajidul and delivered the package to the construction site.

Accused contacted victim using different phone
The conspirators allegedly contacted Allaudin using a different mobile phone and asked him to receive the parcel.

The security guard later handed it to Suraj Kumar, a painter working at the building.

The device exploded when Suraj attempted to open the package the following day. The blast left both Suraj and Allaudin with serious injuries to their heads and faces.

They were immediately shifted to Bowring Hospital and provided emergency medical treatment.

The explosion triggered a detailed investigation involving 10 special police teams from Bengaluru East Division.

Officers analysed more than 1,500 CCTV camera recordings and questioned over 100 people. Police from Assam and Raichur also assisted in tracing the suspects.

Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh praised the coordinated investigation and announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh, along with commendation certificates, for the teams involved in solving the case.

Police said the arrests had helped establish the alleged motive and sequence of events behind the blast. Further legal proceedings will determine the individual responsibility of the accused.
