Mumbai : Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan will join the Indian Test squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, stepping in for the injured Sai Sudharsan.

Sai Sudharsan was ruled out due to a big toe injury sustained during the India A tour of Sri Lanka last month.
Sarfaraz last played for India during the home Test series against New Zealand in November 2024.
Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan was named as the replacement for the injured Sai Sudharsan for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, the BCCI announced on Sunday.
Sai Sudharsan was on Saturday ruled out of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka after failing to recover from a big toe injury sustained during the India A tour of the island nation last month.
'Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka. The left-handed batter, who has been at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru, has made significant progress in his recovery from the right toe stress reaction and is recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his progress,' BCCI said in a media release.
Sarfaraz will join the Indian team in Colombo before the team travels to Galle for the first Test match, starting on August 15, 2026.
Sarfaraz, 28, last played for India during the home Test series against New Zealand in November 2024. He was dropped after the three-match series which India lost 0-3, despite scoring 150 in the first Test in Bengaluru.
India have several key players sidelined due to injuries. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was also ruled out of the Sri Lanka series as he has not fully recovered from the left knee injury he sustained during the ODI series against England.
The selectors included Aquib Nabi in the squad as Bumrah's replacement.
Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep were also unavailable due to injuries.
