Jaipur: Telangana swimmers delivered strong performances at the 42nd Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championships 2026, with Aarush Das and Shivani Karra making their mark in their respective events.
Aarush Das secured a bronze medal in the Boys’ 50m Backstroke Final, clocking 29.44 seconds at the championships being held in Jaipur from August 6 to 9.
The event is being organised by the Rajasthan Swimming Association under the aegis of the Swimming Federation of India. The medal is a significant milestone for Aarush as it marks his first national-level medal.
Representing Telangana, the young swimmer displayed determination and composure to finish third in the competitive final. Krishiv Doshi of Madhya Pradesh and Shlok Sunil Jadhav of Karnataka took the first and second positions respectively.
Aarush is trained by Ayush Yadav, Head Swim Coach at the Sports Authority of Telangana. His performance has been hailed as an encouraging sign for the state’s emerging swimming talent. Telangana also celebrated another podium finish in the women’s 100m freestyle, with Shivani Karra claiming the silver medal.
She clocked 1:01.28 seconds to finish second, behind Dhivashree Kesavan of Tamil Nadu, who won gold in 1:00.23 seconds.
Indraany M. Menon of Kerala finished third in 1:01.66 seconds. The performances of Aarush and Shivani have added to Telangana’s presence at the national championships and offered further encouragement to the state’s young swimmers.
