Nizamabad: Farmers across Nizamabad district have staged protests against the digital system used for urea distribution, alleging technical glitches and unfair access to fertiliser.
The agitation spread to Nizamabad Rural after cultivators held a dharna outside the Indalwai Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS).
The protest followed the uploading of 900 urea bags on the online portal, with farmers claiming the entire stock was shown as booked within two minutes.
Agitating cultivators questioned how local stocks could be exhausted online before genuine farmers could access the application.
Farmers said poor mobile connectivity, limited digital literacy and frequent server crashes were disrupting fertiliser supplies during a crucial stage of crop cultivation.
Despite assurances of adequate district-level stocks, many cultivators have been forced to wait in long queues. Farmer associations demanded that the government scrap the app-based system and restore manual distribution.
