WARANGAL: Vigilance and enforcement teams, together with officials from the Warangal–Mahabubabad Civil Supplies Department, conducted joint inspections at Mahadeva Agro Industries rice mill in Kesamudram mandal on Wednesday.

The checks were part of an inquiry into default in Custom Milling Rice (CMR) for Kharif 2023–24. Officials said the mill had been allotted a total of 2,783.080 metric tonnes of government rice, but had so far delivered only 1,196.366 metric tonnes as CMR. 

The joint physical inspection found a shortage of 1,586.714 metric tonnes of rice at the mill. 

The default caused a loss to the government of Rs. 6,46,89,029, officials confirmed. 

They warned that defaults in government rice allocations and CMR deliveries would not be tolerated and that full recovery of the loss would be pursued. 

A case was registered at Kesamudram police station in connection with the substantial shortfall. 

Police arrested the mill owner, Neelam Suhasini, and later transferred her to the Mahabubabad sub-jail. 

Authorities said strict action under Mission K-100 against rice mills violating allocation and delivery norms will continue in the future.
