Amaravati Championship: DEOs told to ensure maximum participation 

Amaravati : School education director Thameem Ansariya Andhra Pradesh School Education Director Thameem Ansariya has directed all DEOs to ensure maximum student participation in the state-wide Amaravati Championship, a grassroots sports initiative aimed at nurturing talent for National Sports Day. 

School education director Thameem Ansariya directed all district Educational Officers (DEOs) in the state to encourage maximum participation of eligible students in the ongoing Amaravati Championship, being organised by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP). 

The championship, being held from July 15 to August 29, features competitions in the Under-17 and Under-23 categories and is being organised to mark National Sports Day, observed annually on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. 

In a circular issued to all DEOs on Monday, Ansariya instructed them to extend full cooperation to SAAP for the successful conduct of the championship. 

She said competitions in 12 sports disciplines are currently being conducted at the Assembly constituency level for both age categories. The winners would advance to the district-level competitions, followed by the State-level championship, she added. 

The director also instructed DEOs to depute the services of Physical Directors (PDs) and physical education teachers (PETs), wherever requested by district sports development officers (DSDOs), to ensure the smooth conduct of the constituency, district and State-level events during the championship period. 

She emphasised that all schools should encourage the maximum number of eligible boys and girls to participate in the competitions, describing the championship as an important platform to identify and nurture sporting talent across the State. 

Ansariya further directed DEOs to coordinate closely with District Sports Development Officers and provide all necessary logistical and administrative support to ensure the successful organisation of the championship at every stage.
