Earthquake Hits Paderu Area, Residents Panic
Paderu – Tremors was felt across several parts of the Paderu constituency, including the popular Araku Valley, often called the "Ooty of Andhra."
The earthquake struck at 11:31 PM on Saturday night, causing the ground to shake for a few seconds. Household items were scattered and knocked over, prompting residents to flee their homes in panic.
The National Center for Seismology reported the quake had a magnitude of 4.4, with its epicentre in the Koraput region of Odisha.
The tremors were also felt in nearby areas such as Munchingiput, Hukumpeta, Jolaput, and Sujankota.
Locals noted that this region has never experienced an earthquake before, adding to the surprise and alarm among residents. No injuries or damage have been reported so far. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as residents remain alert following the unexpected seismic activity.
