Put Palamuru-Rangareddy LI on fast track, asks CM,
Hyderabad : Works relating to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRLI) scheme would be taken up and completed on the fast track as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the availability of adequate funds for land acquisition and clearance of pending bills.
Besides, certain other pending projects in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district would also be completed in a time-bound manner.
The Chief Minister instructed the Ministers and officials to expedite the completion of the irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district.
At a review on Tuesday, the Chief Minister enquired about the status of the construction of various projects, including PRLI. The officials concerned have been directed to conduct field visits and complete the land acquisition process for PRLI project on a war-footing.
Revanth Reddy emphasised that land acquisition for other projects should also be completed expeditiously. The Chief Minister assured officials that the state government will release the required funds for land acquisition.
The Chief Minister also clarified that all pending bills relating to the projects would be cleared. The district ministers were instructed to conduct a review with the officials concerned regarding the progress of irrigation projects in the Palamuru district and to continuously monitor the progress of these projects.
Earlier, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy also held a meeting on PRLI scheme. The Minister directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive report detailing the progress of works as well as priority-wise execution schedules for all ongoing projects in the region.
He pointed out that tenders called by the erstwhile Bharat Rashtra Samithi government for the distributor network did not help the project as the land acquisition process for the canal system was not completed, resulting in implementation hurdles.
The Minister also instructed officials to fast-track de-siltation of minor irrigation tanks, undertake urgent canal repairs, and improve water distribution infrastructure ahead of the monsoon season.
The PRLI scheme and associated irrigation projects are regarded as flagship initiatives aimed at irrigating nearly 12.30 lakh acres in the drought-prone districts of southern Telangana as well as providing water for drinking and industrial purposes.
Regional Event Calendar Uttam informed the officials that Phase-I of PRLIS envisages drinking water supply to 1,226 villages across six districts — Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Vikarabad, Rangareddy and Nalgonda.
