Solar-powered cold storage unit set up at Ananthavaram hamlet

Visakhapatnam: A solar-powered cold storage facility developed at Ananthavaram village in Padmanabham mandal with the support of Rotary Visakhapatnam was facilitated.

Inaugurating it on Sunday, TDP leader Ganta Raviteja said the facility, established at a cost of Rs 12.42 lakh, has been conceived to strengthen rural agricultural infrastructure by enabling scientific post-harvest storage and minimising produce loss among farmers.

Explaining the benefits of the storage unit, Raviteja mentioned that the initiative would provide access to reliable cold-chain support, allowing the farmers to preserve perishable produce for longer durations and secure better market realisation through timely sales.

The TDP leader observed that the integration of solar energy into the project reflects a sustainable and cost-efficient approach to rural infrastructure development.

Emphasising the need for decentralised, farmer-oriented infrastructure initiatives that improve agricultural resilience and enhance income security in rural communities, Raviteja commended Rotary Visakhapatnam for supporting a socially impactful initiative aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
