Efforts on to transform TG into top rice export hub, says Uttam
Hyderabad: State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on said the State government is committed to transforming Telangana into India’s leading rice processing and export hub through large-scale modernisation of rice mills, improved infrastructure and value addition.
He said the government now intends to extend incentives to rice mills exporting rice enabling them to focus on improving the quality, branding and global competitiveness of Telangana rice.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said the era of conventional rice milling is giving way to modern technology.
He urged millers to upgrade their units with automated machinery, scientific drying systems, silos and quality-control mechanisms to meet international standards.
The minister the government was encouraging millers to adopt world-class processing technologies, improve storage infrastructure and reduce post-harvest losses.
Scientific storage, efficient milling and better branding would help Telangana capture premium markets in India and abroad, he added.
