Hyderabad MP and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday conducted a workshop for volunteer lawyers at the City Convention Centre in Nampally to prepare them for assisting voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The workshop focused on equipping advocates with the legal and procedural knowledge required to help voters respond to SIR notices issued by Electoral Registration Officers and represent them during hearings.
The lawyers were also trained to assist residents in submitting the necessary supporting documents to ensure their names remain on the electoral rolls.
Addressing the gathering, Asad Owaisi urged the Telangana government to ensure that no eligible poor citizen is deprived of their voting rights during the revision process.
He stressed that the Special Intensive Revision should not result in the wrongful deletion of genuine voters from the electoral rolls.
The Hyderabad MP also cautioned that if the state government failed to take timely measures to prevent such deletions, it would be held publicly accountable.
These legal volunteers will assist citizens who receive SIR notices, guide them through the verification process, help them attend hearings before Electoral Registration Officers, and facilitate the submission of relevant documents to safeguard their voting rights.
