Food Commission Directs Action Against Substandard Eggs in Anganwadis
Amadaguru: State Food Commission Member E Lakshmi Reddy conducted a surprise inspection of a Model Anganwadi Centre on Tuesday and ordered immediate action over quality lapses in the supply of nutritional food.
During the visit, Lakshmi Reddy checked the quality of nutritional supplements and reviewed the centre’s records. He found that the eggs supplied to children and pregnant women did not carry the mandatory identification markings.
Additionally, the eggs were underweight and of poor quality. Warning that negligence in welfare programmes will not be tolerated, Lakshmi Reddy ordered show-cause notices to be issued immediately to the ICDS Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) for poor monitoring, the Anganwadi teacher for negligence, and the contractor for supplying substandard eggs.
He directed officials to rectify all deficiencies immediately to ensure beneficiaries receive high-quality nutritional suppor
