A video showing Rajpal Yadav thanking Salman Khan is going viral online — and it has triggered one big question: has the actor been released from Tihar Jail? The short, viral clip features Rajpal speaking warmly about Salman Khan, calling him a constant source of support. 

That was enough for social media to assume that Salman may have helped him secure bail in the ongoing Rs 9 crore debt case. But here’s the truth.

In the video, Rajpal can be heard saying, “Salman bhai bade bhai ki tarah hain, Salman bhai ke sath aaj baith ke, andar se bhot Khushi mehsoos hoti hai," while praising the superstar for helping people in the industry. When reporters ask him about relief, he adds, “Sach me relieve mehsoos kar raha hoon."

The timing of the clip has led many to believe this is recent footage One user wrote, “@BeingSalmanKhan thank you for helping him." Another responded, “Fake news he is still in jail it’ is a old video." A third clarified, “It’s an old video, he is still in jail, check the fact first or Google about the news."

No. The video is not recent. The footage is from an earlier period when Rajpal was released after serving time in 2018. He had then spent around three months in jail after being convicted for failing to repay a Rs 5 crore loan taken to finance his film Ata Pata Laapata. 

The case involved bounced cheques and legal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act Currently, Rajpal Yadav remains in Tihar Jail after surrendering on February 5, 2026, in connection with the same, long-running cheque-bounce case.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan recently spoke about Rajpal’s situation, saying he has known him for more than two decades and considers him hardworking and kind. He also revealed that he advised producers to increase Rajpal’s remuneration to help him during this difficult phase. Priyadarshan said, “The poor guy made a blunder because of his poor education. Rajpal is a good soul."

Despite support from within the industry, there has been no official confirmation of bail yet.
